As a Volunteer

I have been fortunate enough to volunteer at several different locations around my hometown and in my most recent home of Indianapolis. Please see my volunteer experience below.

Fletcher Place Community Center     April 2017

Site leader – Indianapolis, IN

Myself and a peer lead a large group of IUPUI students in service at the Fletcher Place Community Center. We worked in the community garden, planting crops and readying the beds for the summer.

Midwest Food Bank             February 2017

Head site leader – Indianapolis, IN

I lead nine fellow IUPUI students in a Saturday morning service event at Midwest Food Bank, a food distribution center south of downtown Indianapolis.

Indiana State Museum         January 2017

Head site leader – Indianapolis, IN

For IUPUI’s MLK Day of Service, I was the head site leader of a group that ventured to the state museum to assist them with MLK Day programming.

Cats Haven      November 2016

Event coordinator and volunteer – Indianapolis, IN

For the community service event I planned by myself, I took a group of fellow IUPUI students to Cats Haven for an afternoon helping care for kitties.

Garfield Park Arts Center             October 2015

Arts and Crafts Instructor – Indianapolis, Indiana

As a volunteer at the Garfield Park Arts Center last fall, I was able to assist youths ranging from four to 13 years of age with Halloween-themed crafts.

Optimist Club of Hagerstown     November 2015 – Present

Full-time Member – Hagerstown, Indiana

In the fall of 2015 I became a full-time member of the Optimist Club of Hagerstown, the chapter nearest my childhood home.

Inventory Organizer – Indianapolis, Indiana

My first volunteer experience in the great city of Indianapolis took place at Midwest Food Bank August of my freshman year at IUPUI. I have been looking forward to going back ever since!
